Gold Medal for Outstanding Product
Best Whole Bean Coffee
Best Regular Coffee
Mr. Espresso's unique coffees were awarded First Place three years in a row at the cappuccino contests held by the City of San Francisco.
We are sorry that the competition no longer takes place, but we are proud to announce that in the competition's final three years, Mr. Espresso's coffees were selected as the overwhelming favorite choice.
Our coffee has developed a loyal following among the fine restaurants and cafes of the San Francisco Bay Area over the past 23 years.
Chez Panisse, Lark Creek Inn, Oliveto, Il Fornaio Restaurants -- these and many others have discovered the smooth, full-bodied flavor of Mr. Espresso coffee.
Among our selection of fine coffees, our favorites include:
- Neapolitan Espresso© -- In Italy, Naples sets the standard for espresso. Modeled in that fashion, this is a rich, full bodied espresso, with a complex, nutty flavor excellent straight or with milk.
- Gold Medal Blend -- Our award-winning blend which won the Chefs In America competition four years running. Gold Medal Blend makes a smooth, full-flavored espresso with a pleasant aroma and a sweet lingering aftertaste. It's the perfect finish to a fine meal.
- Special Blend -- A blend of African and Indonesian coffee with a touch of French Roast for an added dimension. Sweet, aromatic, complex -- this is our most popular brewed coffee blend.
- French Roast -- The varietals in this blend are selected specifically to stand up to the intensity of the roast. As a result, the delicate flavor of each varietal is retained while achieving the deep flavor, light body, and low acidity characteristic of a great French Roast.
- Organics -- The finest Certified Organic coffee available is used to produce our Organic Neapolitan and Organic Special Blend for espresso and brewed coffee. And coming soon... Organic Fair Trade Coffee.
Pure coffee -- no water added
Today it is fashionable to roast at high temperatures (called flash roasting) and then to cool the beans rapidly by spraying them with cold water.
This process, called "quenching", is a shortcut Mr. Espresso chooses not to take. Instead, he rely upon the skill of our roasters to know when to stop the roasting process and allow the coffee to air-cool naturally.
Quenching adds at least 5% to the final product in unnecessary water-weight.
With Mr. Espresso, you actually get more coffee per pound -- No Water Added!
The art of blending
When you drink coffee, you should be able
to hear all the beans talking to you.

Each variety of green coffee is roasted separately in order to enhance its unique flavor and character. Blending is done after roasting, so you taste the individual flavors in the cup.
Mr. Espresso's blends are known for their complexity and wonderful aroma, without the harshness of flash roasted coffees.
